Teeth cleanings are important for your dental health, but they can be hard to fit into your busy life. At Angel’s Smile Dental Care, we offer evening and Saturday appointments to help make taking care of your smile more convenient.

Importance of Routine Dental Care

Your regular brushing and flossing can remove plaque from your teeth. However, your saliva has minerals in it that can deposit on your teeth. These minerals are valuable in fighting tooth decay — your saliva will actually repair little decay lesions by remineralizing them. But when these minerals deposit on your teeth they will lead to gum inflammation and eventually gum disease unless they are regularly removed.

This build-up is called tartar or calculus. Deposits can occur both above the gumline and below. During a routine dental visit, your hygienist meticulously removes this built-up tartar by gently scraping and polishing the surfaces of your teeth, both above the gumline and below. Done regularly and combined with proper at-home oral hygiene, regular dental cleanings help prevent gum disease. For most patients, we recommend cleanings every six months. For patients at higher risk or with gum disease, we may recommend them as often as every three months.

How Long Does a Teeth Cleaning Take?

We offer different levels of dental cleaning based on the needs of each patient. Most often, we recommend a routine cleaning, which usually takes between 30 minutes and an hour. In cases of significant buildup or gum disease, we’ll recommend a deeper level of cleaning that may take longer.

At your first visit with us, you’ll receive a comprehensive oral exam along with a cleaning. The whole appointment should last about an hour and a half. To find out more about what to expect, check out our First Visit page.

Our convenient office hours make it easier for you to stay on top of your dental health. We’re open weekdays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, perfect for scheduling an after-work appointment. Or, if weekends are better for you, we’re also open Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
