Teeth cleanings are important for your dental health, but they can be hard to fit into your busy life. At Angels Smiles Dental Care Center, we offer evening and Saturday appointments to help make taking care of your smile more convenient.

Importance of Routine Dental Care

A woman shows a beautiful smile. Regular teeth cleanings promote a healthy smile.

Even with regular brushing and flossing, plaque and tartar can still accumulate on your teeth. During a routine dental visit, your hygienist removes this built-up tartar and plaque by gently scraping and polishing the surfaces of your teeth. This is important because over time, plaque and tartar can contribute to the development of cavities and gum disease. When combined with proper at-home oral hygiene, regular dental cleanings help prevent these conditions and protect the health of your smile.

For most patients, we recommend cleanings every six months. For patients with gum disease or a higher risk of cavity formation, we may recommend them as often as every two or three months.

How Long Does a Teeth Cleaning Take?

We offer different levels of dental cleaning based on the needs of each patient. Most often, we recommend a routine cleaning, which usually takes between 30 minutes and an hour. In cases of significant buildup or gum disease, we’ll recommend a deeper level of cleaning that may take longer.

At your first visit with us, you’ll receive a comprehensive oral exam along with a cleaning. The whole appointment should last about an hour and a half. To find out more about what to expect, check out our First Visit page.
